Advantage Nebraska

Showing our commitment to a sustainable future in Nebraska through innovative carbon capture.

Leading the way in carbon capture and sequestration.

Environmental stats

Green Plains is taking bold action in addressing climate change through the “Advantage Nebraska” carbon capture and sequestration strategy. This initiative will enable Green Plains to capture and permanently sequester biogenic carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from our Nebraska facilities. The project will reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 800,000 tons annually, helping to accelerate the transition to a net-zero carbon future.

Construction Progress Updates

As part of our commitment to transparency, Green Plains will provide regular updates showcasing the construction progress of the Advantage Nebraska project. Check back often as the project makes progress and achieves milestones.

Carbon Capture at Scale

The Advantage Nebraska project will capture CO₂ emissions from Green Plains’ biorefining facilities in Central City, Wood River, and York, Nebraska. This effort aligns with our long-term vision to produce clean, sustainable biofuels while minimizing our environmental impact.

A Transformative Approach to Sustainability

This innovative carbon capture and sequestration technology is not just about reducing emissions—it’s about driving sustainable practices within the biofuel industry. The captured CO₂ will be stored safely underground, contributing to the global goal of lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

Why It Matters

Green Plains is committed to driving positive change and achieving a sustainable future. By capturing and permanently sequestering carbon emissions, we’re not only reducing our environmental footprint but also setting a new standard for sustainable biofuel production. Our work in Nebraska is a significant step forward in the global transition to a low-carbon economy.

Vision for the Future

At Green Plains, sustainability and innovation are at the heart of everything we do. Through the Advantage Nebraska project, we’re taking decisive action to reduce CO₂ emissions and contribute to a cleaner, greener future. Our commitment to developing cutting-edge carbon capture technologies supports our mission to produce renewable energy while protecting the environment.
