Overview

Green Plains Renewable Energy is the fourth largest producer of ethanol in North America. We have developed a diversified business model that is positioning us for success in the biofuels industry.

Our business platform includes agronomy services, grain procurement through ethanol production, blending, distribution and third-party marketing contracts. At full capacity, the combined ethanol production of our six facilities is 480 million gallons per year. While at full capacity, we will consume approximately 175 million bushels of corn and produce approximately 1,500,000 tons of distillers grains for feedstock.

We also provide ethanol marketing services under third party contracts totaling 360 million gallons of annual ethanol production bringing our combined production and marketing volumes to 840 million gallons per year or 8% of the nations ethanol demand.

Our employees are constantly working together, managing the risks inherent in the biofuels industry. We have a seasoned management team whose vast experience allows us to focus on operational excellence and best in practice risk management processes.

We are currently involved in research and development efforts surrounding the potential use of carbon dioxide to help produce an algae-based biofuel feedstock and to commercialize algae production technology.

Ethanol today is one of the only fully operating renewable energy industries in the world today. Ethanol is one of the best sources for octane. Not only is ethanol reducing our dependence on foreign oil, ethanol has helped support more than 494,000 jobs in 2008 alone, in the United States.

In order to get to second and third generation renewable fuel technologies, first generation corn to ethanol must succeed. We are building a platform at Green Plains Renewable Energy that we believe is the right formula to succeed in this industry.
